Protect the ancient Maugean skate and its last remaining habitat
The Maugean skate is a mysterious, prehistoric fish species found nowhere else on Earth. It lives only in Tasmania’s Macquarie Harbour, a fragile, low-oxygen waterway nestled beside the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area.
This ancient species has survived since the time of the dinosaurs, yet today, its population is plummeting. The threat pushing it toward extinction is the salmon industry, enabled by the Albanese government’s scandalous weakening of national nature laws in March 2025.

About the artist:
