Oceans are for whales, dolphins and sharks, surfers and swimmers. Let your fellow beachgoers know about the grave threat from fossil fuel exploration and extraction. Get the message out there, buy a Stop New Oil & Gas towel.

This is a collaboration between Wilderness Society, Surfers for Climate and Surfrider Foundation Australia - coming together to fight the threat to our beaches and oceans

What's it made from?

Made from 100% recycled material (85% recycled polyester; 15% recycled nylon), the towel measures 80 by 160cm, is highly absorbent, quick-drying and doesn't suck up sand, so you won’t bring half the beach back with you after a surf.

The towel has an urgent call:
Stop New Oil & Gas.

Why is it important?

Australia’s beautiful oceans and coastlines are under increasing threat from oil and gas exploration.

Dry off, sit down on the beach, and when you’re in the surf your towel can spread the word. Our coastlines and oceans should forever be a safe and healthy environment for people and marine life. The seismic blasting and drilling needed for exploration and extraction is devastating for animals, like southern right whales and dolphins.

On top of this, they destroy the fisheries that local communities depend on. We are in the midst of a climate crisis and can’t afford to burn more fossil fuels which subsequently heat the oceans. This has terrible consequences for sensitive ecosystems like the giant kelp forests of lutruwita / Tasmania and the Great Barrier Reef.

Now is the time to make it loud and clear with our new beach towel that oceans are not for fossil fuel companies to grow profits, but a place for all the life that depends on them. Including all of us.

Take a photo of your towel and share it with us using the hashtag #StopNewOilAndGas

How much does it cost to ship my order?

Domestic shipping is free for orders over $100 within Australia. For orders under $100, the shipping cost will be automatically calculated at checkout based on your location, chosen shipping method, and the size and weight of your order. This is displayed before any payment details are requested.

Postage costs are determined by Australia Post's Postage Assessment Calculator.

How long will it take to receive my order?

We are currently experiencing high volumes of orders, please allow extra time to receive your order. You will receive a shipping notification from Auspost when your order ships. The time your order takes to reach you depends upon the shipping method you select.

All overseas orders are sent by international airmail. Tracking information may be available.

Once your order arrives in your country, it is passed to your postal service, which will deliver it to you in keeping with their standard working practices. Efficiency varies depending on the destination country - sometimes delivery can be very quick, sometimes less so.

International Customs can also hold up a package, sometimes for no apparent reason, and in these cases there's not a lot we can do to speed things up.
